Ashley Furniture Homestore Donates 40 Mattresses to Lubbock Outreach Center

According to KCBD, Trinity Church's Outreach Center received a donation of 40 Tempur-Pedic mattresses from the Ashley Furniture Homestore on August the 2nd. 

"We just want to be part of the community, so we're going to donate 40 Tempur-Pedic mattresses to Trinity Outreach to do what they do with them and to help out our community," Ashley Furniture Sales Manager Daniel Blankenburg said.

The atypical donation was given to try and help people with a more specific need in mind. Trinity is reaching out to other charities like The Red Cross to help get the mattresses in the hands of those who need them. 

"When it was brought to my attention that this is what Ashley Furniture wanted to do, I thought what a tremendous blessing it would be to be able to help our community," Connections Outreach Pastor John Martinez said. "As I've said before, our community, they are our people. So, we want to be able to help those people that are in need."

Giving Spirit

I can personally say that it is heart-wrenching for me to hear about a child without a bed so this is a nice gesture from the Ashley Furniture store in Lubbock. I played the role of Santa a couple of times and it would almost make me weep to listen to what the kids wanted for Christmas. The first time I heard a little boy ask me if he could get a bed for Christmas, I almost choked up. Sometimes we don't realize how lucky and blessed we are until we see how others are living. I just wanted to make a shout out for a story that managed to be about good going on in the world brought to us by a furniture store near me.
